As part of the first plywood series of furniture released in 1946 by Charles and Ray Eames, the moulded plywood circular top was meant to be used with either a metal base (CTM) or bentwood base (CTW). The depressed centre of the circular top was not just a design feature but it also made the top much stronger and salespersons used to stand on them to demonstrate how strong they were. Originally produced by Evans Molded Plywood Company and later on by Herman Miller in 1950. It was discontinued in 1957 bef
