A day or 2 after my offer was accepted, I was informed that the item was sold. And I had also communicated to seller that I could not collect item so soon. Seller has apologised which I accept, but still think that there should at least be better communication in this process.

Hi, I apologize for the miscommunication happened from my end. It wasn't intentional. As you had told me that you are not sure with the date when you will be free to collect the item. So I waited but I haven't got any response so I got an other offer to collect it immediately and they were urgent. So it happened, and I will make sure that no more such experience would happen from my end. Thank you.
Made an offer. Asked for details - location for collection, if item can fit in car boot. Was told will update by end of day as a friend will be collecting. No news so followed up the next day, was informed still waiting for friend to reply and will update. Almost 2 weeks after, still no news. Texted to follow up, message read but no reply. MIA. Deal at your own risk.
I sincerely apologize. As I have made an offer and was expecting my friend to collect but unfortunately they got other offer and accepted that without my knowledge. I didn't knew about it. And I was feeling bad to reply back after breaking up. Thank you.
