Kids Coding & Beginner Robotics | Python, Arduino, ESP32 | Project-Based STEM
S$60
Your child has an idea? Let's figure out how to build it! \ÖuÖ/ ~~~~~ I offer hands-on STEM lessons for children interested in programming, electronics and beginner robotics. Rather than following a fixed syllabus, I prefer to start with what the student wants to make and work out what skills they need to get there. What I can teach: - Python (beginner to intermediate) - Scratch - Arduino and ESP32 - Basic electronics and circuits - Sensors and motors - Beginner robotics - 3D modelling with Tinkercad, Fusion 360 and Blender No previous experience is required. ~~~~~ How lessons work? For smaller projects, we'll usually start by understanding what the student wants to make, then learn the skills needed and build it together. We can test, debug and improve the project along the way. For larger projects, the first lesson may include more planning and scoping. We'll work out what the student wants to build, what they already know, and break the project into achievable steps. This planning is included in the lesson and helps us avoid jumping into a project that is too difficult or unrealistic. For example, if a student wants to make a robot that follows them, we might start with basic circuits and Arduino programming, then move on to sensors, motors and simple robot control before combining everything into a working project. ~~~~~ About me! I'm a Robotics Engineer with professional experience in Python, robotics, simulation, electronics and sensors. I've also worked as a teaching assistant for an introductory programming course and run hands-on workshops covering ESP32, sensors, Bluetooth and 3D printing. I've mentored students with little programming experience and helped them work towards their own projects. I can bring Arduino, ESP32 and electronics equipment to lessons. ~~~~~ Lesson details - - Ages 6–14 - 1-to-1 lessons preferred - Small groups / siblings can be discussed - Lessons at the student's home - Available Saturdays and Sundays - Student's home; travelling further from the West can be discussed - Parents are welcome to sit in ~~~~~ Rates: Introductory rate: $50/hour for the first 4 lessons for new students Usual rate: $60/hour thereafter - 1 hour: $60 - 1.5 hours: $90 - 2 hours: $120 The planning and scoping of projects is included in the lesson rate. For larger projects, we can discuss what additional components or materials are needed. These are not included in the lesson fee and will only be purchased with the parent's approval. Travel: I'm based in the West, so the rates above apply to locations that are reasonably accessible from there. For locations further away, I may charge an additional travel fee depending on the distance and travel time. I'll let you know the total before we arrange the lesson. ~~~~~ Interested? Feel free to message me with: 1. Your child's age 2. What they're interested in 3. Any previous experience 4. Your general location 5. Anything they would like to build, if they already have an idea As a sidenote: If your child wants to build a time machine, I'm probably not the person to call... OuO" Otherwise, for most other things, tell me what they want to make and we'll figure it out.
