The price is set by the resale companies, not by me. - Each deck that's sold means it becomes rarer & rarer to find a deck that is still brand new, sealed with cellophane, unopened and undented. - I do not deal with cheap decks from individual sellers on eBay as I go through too much volume to do QC myself. - The resale companies guarantee authenticity, provenance & quality control as they only purchase from retailers who have gone out of business. - Decks are protected as they send cartons of 50 to 100 each time. The price reflects this superhuman effort & increased global shipping, GST & custom fees. - There is no need to collect rare decks at all. Ugly Duckling V1 (White) V1 was launched on Nov 2020 as part of 7 decks to celebrate TCC's 10th year anniversary. [External link] 🌟 The Ugly Duckling series is a limited-edition playing card deck designed by TCC to commemorate the Danish national treasure and fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen. The V1s were released on Hans Christian Andersen Memorial Day in 2020. The limited print run of 1805 decks were sold out. 🌟 In this project, the Ugly Duckling V2 is the sequel to the V1. The theme is that of a glamorous and charming black swan. This is the deck’s first appearance. Limited to 999 decks, with numbered seal. 🌟 The playing cards boasts the unique shade of watercolor on canvas to form an almost translucent texture with distinct layers. The color is fresh and vividly depicts the extraordinary temperament of the swan. Fine metallic ink is used for printing. The cursive lettering of ‘The Ugly Duckling’, surrounds the black swan. 🌟 V2: Illustration by Russian artist Elizaveta Ruzanova, copyright usage of her artwork. 🌟 Compared to the original V1 limited edition of 1,805 , the Ugly Duckling V2 is limited to 999, and only 500 were made available to the public. 🌟 Although they designed it in a completely different coquettish style, it continues the gradual watercolor effect — unique shading shifts and the water penetration on paper, forming a translucent texture and creates depth. 🌟 Card face has been adjusted, and Suits have been painted over with watercolor texture. You can see the flow of watercolors on each card. The colors of the whole deck of cards show movement yet are unified. 🌟 Four ACES are based on the unique makeup and costumes of ballerinas when they play the Black Swan. The black feathers at the canthus (edge of the eye), the slender wrists, the red lip color similar to the beak of the black swan, and the vast expanse of empty space give us freedom of imagination. A beautiful black swan appears before your eyes. 🌟 Similar as V1, V2 comes with a Silver foiled tuck box and unique decorative patterns that enhance the elegance. 🌟 The design adopts Ugly Duckling around swans and the same silver decorative pattern as the previous version, continuing the gracefulness and romance of the fairy tale series. 🌟 Each deck is sealed with series numbered label with the name Andersen on it, in honor of Hans Christian Andersen, the Danish writer, and master of fairy tales.
