We are looking for an experienced barista who is armed with strong specialty coffee knowledge who is also able to manage the day-to-day operations of an outlet. This role not only focusses on coffee preparations, but also on team management, operations management, as well as customer excellence. Responsibility • Assume responsibility for all aspects of the coffee production. Ensuring the quality of food and drink served to the customer is at the highest level. • Be capable of completing and overseeing all daily operations of the café • Oversee all employees within the outlet, including: hiring and terminations, performance and pay reviews, job descriptions and responsibilities, training and continuing education, discipline and commendation. • Working together with in-house consultants on SOP of the outlet. • Management of baristas: customer service, preparation and presentation of beverages and information, operational procedures, merchandising. • Management of kitchen: working closely together with Head Chef to ensure the quality of food produced. • Management of back of house operations: payroll, scheduling, ordering, and sales and profitability • Be “on-call” with the responsibility to respond to problems or fill-in when needed. • Cultivate a professional, friendly, efficient work environment • Lead team meetings • Proactively training staff to maintain and uphold all company and café policies. • Actively work toward creating a superlative café experience through: customer service, beverage preparation and presentation, in-store marketing, and upkeep of the physical space • Ensure all projects and responsibilities are completed in a timely, efficient manner • Handle customer complaints with professionalism and tact • Schedule: create the schedule, manage time off requests, ensure the coffee bar is properly staffed • Proactively solve problems and make decisions that benefit the café and company at large • Manage social media pages QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE • Excellent communication with an infectious love of coffee. • Ability to keep a calm, mature, professional demeanour when at all times • Proactive approach to problem-solving and staff management • A high degree of ethics and obsession with customer service Excellent time management skills and ability to self-direct when necessary • High level of organization • Adaptability and the ability to creatively troubleshoot difficult situations • Superior leadership capabilities; ability to work well within groups • Focused perspective on what a high-functioning coffee bar looks like and how to execute that perspective • A passion for small business and quality products • Be a model barista, both as far as bar skills, customer service and enthusiasm to share knowledge • Detail-oriented • Previous management experience
