Carousell Autos Car Drops – Terms & Conditions

  1. Carousell Pte Ltd's ("Carousell") Car Drops programme (the "Programme") is available at https://www.carousell.sg/autos/car-auction (the "Site") from 31 August 2026 until suspended or terminated by Carousell. By participating in the Programme, including registering an account or placing any Bid, you shall be deemed to have accepted and agreed to abide by these terms & conditions ("Terms & Conditions"). All capitalised terms not otherwise defined herein shall have the meaning ascribed to the same in our Terms of Service.

Programme Mechanics & Eligibility

  1. To participate in the Programme and qualify as an eligible participant (each, an "Eligible Participant"), you must:
    1. be at least eighteen (18) years of age and legally capable of entering into a contract for the purchase of a motor vehicle in Singapore;
    2. register on the Site with a valid Singapore mobile number under your control and verify it via the one-time password sent to that number over WhatsApp;
    3. provide your full name accurately at registration; and
    4. be participating in your personal capacity, and not as, or on behalf of, a motor vehicle dealer or trader.
  2. To bid on a vehicle listed under the Programme (each, a "Drop"), an Eligible Participant must, before the end of that Drop's bidding window (being the period ending at the exact time indicated by the countdown displayed for that Drop, as determined by Carousell's servers) (the "Bidding Window"):
    1. log in to the Site to view the Drop's full particulars; and
    2. submit a bid (each, a "Bid") in whole Singapore dollars through the bid entry on that Drop's page.
  3. Without limiting the generality of the above provision:
    1. Carousell reserves the right to disqualify any Eligible Participant whose accounts are otherwise suspended or terminated due to a breach of Carousell's Terms of Service or these Terms & Conditions, and such participants shall not be entitled to any payment or compensation whatsoever.
  4. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained herein, Carousell has the discretion at any time and from time to time to determine the eligibility of any Eligible Participant and/or the validity of any Bid, and shall not be obliged to give any reason whatsoever.

Bidding

  1. Bidding is free. No deposit and no fee of any kind is payable to Carousell to register or to place a Bid. Carousell reserves the right to introduce a deposit requirement for future Drops, which will be notified on the Site before it applies to you.
  2. Each Bid is a binding and irrevocable offer by the Eligible Participant to purchase the relevant Drop at the amount of the Bid, and remains open for acceptance until fourteen (14) days after the end of the Bidding Window. A Bid cannot be withdrawn, amended or cancelled once placed.
  3. An Eligible Participant's first Bid on a Drop must be at least the starting price displayed for that Drop. Each subsequent Bid by the same Eligible Participant on the same Drop must exceed their own previous Bid by at least S$100. Carousell may set a maximum permitted Bid for any Drop (whether or not displayed) and a global maximum Bid amount, and may reject any Bid exceeding them.
  4. The Programme does not disclose the amounts or identities of other participants' Bids. An Eligible Participant sees only their own bidding position on a Drop — including whether their own Bid currently ranks among the top three Bids on that Drop and, where Clause 10 applies, their position in the queue — and, on Drops they have bid on, the total number of Bids placed. Bid amounts and personal particulars of an Eligible Participant are likewise not disclosed to other participants.
  5. Where a "Buy Now" price is displayed for a Drop: a Bid equal to the Buy Now price secures that Drop outright at the moment it is accepted by Carousell's servers and cannot be overtaken. Subsequent Bids equal to the Buy Now price join a queue in order of placement; queued Bids remain binding offers which may be accepted in queue order if the sale to a preceding bidder does not complete, but confer no entitlement to purchase the Drop.
  6. As between Bids of equal amount, the Bid placed earlier in time prevails.
  7. The Bidding Window for each Drop closes at the exact server time indicated, without extension. A Bid is placed only when it is received and accepted by Carousell's servers; Bids received after the close of the Bidding Window are invalid. The Eligible Participant bears the risk of delays in transmission, including where a Bid is submitted close to the end of the Bidding Window, and of any discrepancy between the countdown displayed on their device and the authoritative server time. Carousell may (but is not obliged to) extend or re-run a Bidding Window affected by a failure of the Site.
  8. A completed purchase of a vehicle under the Programme is final and non-refundable.
  1. The listing of a Drop is an invitation for offers only and is not an offer by Carousell or the vehicle's seller to sell. Carousell may at any time and without liability amend the particulars or starting price of a Drop on which no Bids have been placed, withdraw any Drop, or cancel, re-run or reschedule any Bidding Window, including where a Drop contains a material error. Vehicle particulars are compiled from information provided by the vehicle's seller and from vehicle records and are provided for reference only; figures computed by the Site (including depreciation per year, deregistration value and PARF rebate figures) are estimates, may change from day to day, and do not form part of any contract for the sale of a vehicle. Any images displayed for a Drop are for illustration only — they depict the make and model of the vehicle generally and not the actual vehicle offered for sale — and likewise do not form part of any contract for the sale of a vehicle. Eligible Participants are responsible for satisfying themselves as to the condition, particulars and value of a vehicle before bidding, and will in any event be offered a viewing of the actual vehicle before completion (with a test drive where the seller agrees) in accordance with Clause 16.

Winning & Completion

  1. Subject to Clauses 10 and 15, the Eligible Participant holding the highest valid Bid on a Drop at the close of its Bidding Window is the winning bidder for that Drop (the "Winning Bidder"). Results are reflected on the "My bids" page of the Site, and Carousell (or its authorised representatives) will contact the Winning Bidder using the mobile number and name registered on their account.
  2. The identification of a Winning Bidder is provisional and does not of itself conclude a contract for the sale of the vehicle. A binding contract of sale is formed only upon completed Vehicle Sales Agreement (VSA) and payment of deposit. Carousell reserves the right not to proceed with any sale, including where the Drop contained a material error, where the vehicle becomes unavailable, or where the seller's conditions are not met, in which case no Bid shall be treated as accepted and Carousell shall have no liability to any participant beyond releasing them from their Bids.
  3. The sale of the vehicle is between the Winning Bidder and the seller of the vehicle, with Carousell acting as the platform intermediary and marketplace facilitator. The completion process — including viewing and inspection, the sale and purchase agreement, payment, and transfer of ownership with the Land Transport Authority — takes place outside the Site and is subject to the terms of the sale and purchase agreement. The Winning Bidder will be offered an opportunity to view and inspect the vehicle before completion and, where the seller agrees, to test drive it. Vehicles are used goods sold in their existing condition, and nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes any right or remedy that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
  4. The Winning Bidder must complete the purchase at the amount of their winning Bid within the period notified to them, being not less than fourteen (14) days from notification. If the Winning Bidder fails or refuses to complete, Carousell may, without prejudice to any other rights or remedies: (a) treat the Bid as repudiated; (b) offer the vehicle to the next-ranked bidder or to queued bidders under Clause 10; and (c) suspend or permanently exclude the Winning Bidder and their mobile number from the Programme.

Notifications, Account & Conduct

  1. The Programme communicates with Eligible Participants by WhatsApp message to their registered number, including one-time passwords and service notifications relating to their own bidding activity (for example, a notification that their top Bid on a Drop has been outbid). Such notifications are sent on a best-effort basis; delivery is not guaranteed, and an Eligible Participant's obligations and position in any Drop are unaffected by any delay or non-delivery of a notification. It is the Eligible Participant's responsibility to monitor Drops they have bid on.
  2. Separately, and only where an Eligible Participant has opted in (by ticking the alerts checkbox at registration or enabling alerts in their account menu), Carousell will send WhatsApp messages announcing new Drops. An Eligible Participant may opt out at any time, either through the "Turn off alerts" link included in every such message or through the toggle in their account menu, and opting out takes effect immediately.
  3. Messages from the Programme may contain personalised login links which sign the holder of the link into the Eligible Participant's account for a limited period without a one-time password. Eligible Participants must not forward, share or publish messages containing such links; anyone who opens a login link may gain access to the account, and all actions taken through a login link are deemed taken by the account holder. Accounts are personal, tied to the registered mobile number and not transferable, and each Eligible Participant is solely responsible for all activity on their account (whether or not authorised by them), including following any loss or transfer of their mobile number or compromise of their device or WhatsApp account.
  4. Eligible Participants must not: (a) place any Bid they do not intend to honour; (b) bid in collusion with any other person or do anything intended to manipulate prices or the outcome of any Drop; (c) use any automated means to access the Site or place Bids; or (d) register or bid using a mobile number that is not theirs or on behalf of an undisclosed third party. Carousell maintains a record of every Bid placed, which shall (in the absence of manifest error) be conclusive evidence of the Bids placed and their timing. You acknowledge and agree that any decision of Carousell under these Terms & Conditions shall be final, conclusive and binding upon you.

Carousell's Role as a Platform Intermediary

  1. Carousell acts as a platform intermediary in connection with the Programme and is not a party to, and does not guarantee the performance of, any contract for the sale of a vehicle formed through a Drop. Save as otherwise set out in these Terms & Conditions, Carousell does not take ownership of any vehicle offered under the Programme and does not represent or warrant its quality, authenticity, legality, roadworthiness or fitness for purpose.
  2. Carousell does not represent or warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously available, and is not liable for losses arising from the Site being interrupted, delayed, or unavailable, or from any act or omission of a seller.
  3. Carousell does not guarantee any minimum number of Drops, vehicles, or bidders under the Programme. The availability of the Programme is subject to Carousell's platform capacity.

General

  1. You consent, under the Personal Data Protection Act (2012), to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data (including your name, mobile number and bidding activity), as provided for this Programme, by/to Carousell and such other third party as Carousell may reasonably consider necessary as follows:
    1. to operate your account, verify your identity and send you the messages described in these Terms & Conditions (including via Carousell's messaging service providers and WhatsApp);
    2. to contact and/or notify you regarding Drops you have bid on and, where you are a Winning Bidder, to disclose your name, mobile number and winning Bid to the parties involved in completing the sale of the vehicle; and each Eligible Participant confirms that they agree to be bound by the terms of the Carousell Privacy Policy.
  2. You further agree that Carousell may collect, use and/or disclose your personal data to its partners/affiliates, and/or other third party service providers that Carousell may engage from time to time, for the purposes of:
    1. where you have opted in under Clause 19, sending you updates on the latest Drops and related products and services of Carousell;
    2. sending you occasional updates for special promotions, events and related activities organised or co-organised by Carousell, where you have consented to receive such updates.
  3. Carousell will not disclose your personal data to third parties except as provided herein or in accordance with the Carousell Privacy Policy. You can opt out of receiving such updates through the alerts toggle in your account menu or the "Turn off alerts" link in any such message. Should you wish at any time to withdraw your consent for the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal data, please send an email to dpo@thecarousell.com.
  4. By participating in the Programme, you will be deemed to have fully read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and any other requirements set out in any related promotional material and all amendments, additions, replacements, modifications as may be made from time to time by Carousell.
  5. Carousell may vary these Terms & Conditions, suspend and/or terminate the Programme without any notice or liability to any party. Bids placed in a Bidding Window that is cancelled shall lapse without any participant becoming a Winning Bidder.
  6. If any part of the Terms & Conditions is found by a court of Singapore to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, then such part shall be subjected to amendment or deletion from the remainder of the Terms & Conditions, which shall continue to be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.
  7. A person who is not an Eligible Participant may not enforce any of these Terms & Conditions under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act of Singapore and notwithstanding any term herein, the consent of any third party is not required for any variation (including any release or compromise of any liability) or termination of these Terms & Conditions.
  8. These Terms & Conditions are subject to Singapore law and you hereby submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
